How to Fish is not on Xbox. Not Series X, not Series S, not Game Pass, not the 360 backwards catalog. If a Microsoft Store tile shows up with this name, it isn’t the Dazed Games game unless the studio or Xbox themselves say so — and as of these notes, they haven’t.
You play it on PC through Steam. That’s the sentence. The rest of this page is why people keep searching anyway, and what the studio has actually promised.
What Dazed Games said
Their FAQ is one line: consoles and Mac, “Yes! But we don’t know when yet.” They did not name Xbox. They didn’t name PlayStation or Switch either. So “coming to consoles” is real, and “coming to Xbox” is a guess people paste into search.
Until there’s a store listing, a Game Pass post, or a date from the studio, treat Xbox as unconfirmed. The How to Fish game homepage keeps the same line under platforms. We will change it when they do.
Why the query exists
It’s a 1–4 player co-op fishing mess with boats and bosses. That reads like a Game Pass Friday night game. Fair. It still isn’t there. Cloud gaming / xCloud only helps if the title is in the Xbox library first.
Controller on PC is a different question. Steam Input might make an Xbox pad feel fine. That’s not the same as buying it from Microsoft. Don’t pay a key site that claims “Xbox edition.”
If you only have a console
Wait, or find a PC. There is no Xbox download, no disc art, no preview event we can point to. The August 20, 2026 launch was a Steam launch.
When a console version does appear, it will probably need online for theco-op the game is built around. That’s how the PC version is sold: single-player or online co-op, not split-screen we can document yet.
Where to look for an actual announcement
dazed.games, Steam news for app 4001890, and their Discord. Xbox Wire would be the Microsoft-side confirmation. A random “How to Fish Xbox release date” listicle with a stock controller photo is not confirmation.
Want the PC version in the meantime? Buy it on Steam and use theSteam section of the main guide for price, reviews, and the App ID.
