Steam listed How to Fish at $7.99. Same snapshot: 38% off, $4.95. That’s the How to Fish game price we can stand behind, and it’s already out of date the next time Valve runs a seasonal sale. Open thestore page before you budget.
Regional stores convert that. Argentina, Turkey, China — Steam has its own numbers. We’re not going to scrape them into a table that lies next week.
What $8 (or $5) is paying for
A physics fishing sim, 1–4 players, online co-op, 28 Steam achievements. Island-hopping, rods, lures, weapons, bosses, a couple of gambling minigames because of course. It’s closer to a chaotic co-op toy than a $70 campaign.
Reviews at the time: Overwhelmingly Positive, 95% of 7,607. That doesn’t make it “worth it” for you. It does mean you’re not buying a page of bots. TheHow to Fish game guide is the place to see if the loop sounds fun before you spend anything.
Sales, bundles, keys
Dazed Games hasn’t published a street date for the next discount. Steam does the usual: launch week, then whatever the algorithm feels like. Third-party keys for a $5 game are how people buy stolen accounts. Not worth it.
No Xbox price, because it isn’t on Xbox. No Switch eShop number. Console pricing doesn’t exist until a console version does.
Refunds
Steam’s two-hour / two-week refund rule applies like any other purchase. If the physics makes you seasick in twenty minutes, that’s what it’s for. After that, you’re in.
Family Sharing can make one purchase cover a household, with Steam’s usual “one at a time” catch. Co-op still wants a copy in each library if four of you launch at once — check Valve’s current sharing rules, not a 2022 Reddit thread.
Price vs time-to-learn
The game is cheap. Getting good at the cast isn’t. If you only want a number: $7.99 list, $4.95 on that 38% tag, App ID 4001890, launched August 20, 2026. If you want to know whether the islands and bosses justify even five dollars, read thegameplay and achievements sections on the homepage and then look at Steam again.
